dream invasions are back. I hate them. even though i know they are not real, in that moment my emotions are still attached like it is real. and i feel crushed all over again. hate that.

Today when I was working an adorable older couple came through my line. When I asked if they had found everything they needed, the woman looked at her husband and said “I found everything I needed 43 years ago.” GMH.

When my best friend of 20 years had months of pregnancy complications, I was at her side through all of it. However, once the baby was born, hospital policy only let blood relatives visit the NICU. A nurse saw how disappointed I was, so she took me over and signed me in as his aunt. People who recognize that family is more than a DNA match GMH.

I’ve been struggling with an eating disorder for years and weigh myself obsessively throughout the day. This morning, there was a post-it note covering the numbers on my scale that said “you’re beautiful”.

I live with three guys. Men like that GMH.

Yesterday, my husband told me he’d be coming home in 6 days. Today, he was killed on a mission in Iraq. He is gone at 23. I fell to the floor. An hour later, his 17 yr old sister was on the floor reading me the letters he sent her about his love for us. Selfless teenagers biking 4 miles GMH.

My grandpa was suffering with cancer for several years after his heart transplant. In his last few days, my mom and her sisters stayed with him every night. One night his medication made him believe he was fishing in the toliet. My mom and aunts stayed up with him for hours catching fish. They GMH.

As i was examining the latest styles in American Eagle, a more current selection of music than my grandparents’ usually listen to was played. I turned around fully expecting them to be sitting there staring into space, I saw two people dancing together in the middle of the store. Those people? My both over 70 grandparents. GMH

While doing homework on one of the university computers, I spied Sailor Moon manga on one of the others. It turned out to be a very large, imposing football player reading it. He told me that it was his little sister’s new obsession and he wanted to be able to talk to her about it when she called. GMH

I work in a day nursery. One day, a little boy was on my lap crying. Another little boy came over and saw he was crying, so he went and brought him a toy and put it in his lap. A little girl then came over, ran off to get a tissue from the wall dispenser and wiped his nose herself. These children are 18 months. Their concern for others GMH.

I’m Jewish, so around the holidays, I feel a little left out, and I was always jealous of my friends decorating their houses and Christmas trees. My friend’s mom found out I had never decorated a Christmas tree, so she let me decorate a tree in their yard and called it my Hanukkah Bush, and left it up for weeks. Loving friends and their moms GMH

When my best friend and I were young, we went to a fantasy gift shop together. We both wanted to buy Harry Potter wands, but my friend’s mom wouldn’t pay for hers. My mom offered to pay for both, but the salesmen told us he’d give us a special buy-one-get-one-free discount as long as we used them against Voldemort. We laughed and it GMH.

Three years ago, my 3 year old half-sister was taken from my father and I by her mother. I saw her for the first time in 3 long years today. Afraid she wouldn’t remember me, i began to cry when she walked up to me. She put her arms around my neck to hug me and said “It’s okay, Sissy. You’re just as pretty as I remember.” She GMH

Today, I told my boyfriend that I am struggling with depression… and it didn’t scare him away. I showed him GMH yesterday and he’s not going to sleep tonight until he’s read all of the posts. He “wants to be more like the people on GMH.” He doesn’t see it yet, but he already is. His kindness GMH.
